General
A freestyle ski race at the Beach Lake trails at Chugiak High School with your choice of distance: 7.5k or 15k. There will also be a 2.5k un-timed fun race for youngsters. This race is a fundraiser for the Eagle River Nordic Ski Club.
Start Format
There will be multiple waves of mass starts leaving westbound from the stadium area. The first wave will be limited to 30 elite men skiers. Elite women and Fast men will go out in the second wave, 4 minutes later. All other 15k racers will go out in the third wave 4 minutes later. Overall race winners must start in the elite wave. Elite racers compete at the collegiate level. Day-of-race registration for the elite men and women waves is limited so either pre-register or arrive early (before 10:30). Racers should arrange themselves in the starting area so that faster racers are near the front. Please be considerate of your fellow skiers. Use caution when entering the tunnels located at the west end of the stadium, especially at the start of the race. Actual wave formats and start times may vary so be sure to check in at registration the day of the race.
Course & Distance
All races start and finish in the stadium and generally run counter-clockwise around the Beach Lake trails, located across the roadway. The starting line is located a few hundred meters northeast of the stadium area, near Birchwood Elementary School. The race course meanders through the beautiful Beach Lake trails passing numerous junctions. Keep your head up and don’t miss your turn! The 15k course consists of two laps around the 7.5k course with a by-pass loop around the stadium area. Maps will be posted at the registration site and are also available on-line. The actual length of the race course may vary. Currently, the 7.5k course is 8.10k long and the 15k course is 14.7k long.

Volunteers
The AMH Anchorage Cup ski races would not be possible without help from volunteers like you. All race officials and organizers are unpaid volunteers. To keep citizen racing alive and well, all racers should plan to help out at least one race of the series at registration, course marking or course clean-up. Non-racers can help at timing, bib-pickup and feed stations for longer races. Please call the race organizers to offer help or just ask how you can help during registration and bib-pickup.
Questions?
If you need more information or if you would like to volunteer to help, please contact race directors Brian and Sue Looney (phone: 522-2549 or blooney@crweng.com).
