The NSAA Biathlon Committee supports an active biathlon community in South Central Alaska. Biathlon, which combines skiing with shooting, is a challenging sport which requires fitness and concentration. Races are planned monthly throughout the ski season at the Kincaid Biathlon Range. Summer biathlon races which combine rollerskiing, mountain biking, or running with shooting are held during the summer.
The Biathlon Committee is volunteer driven and supported by biathletes and race participants. The committee manages the Kincaid Range which is located a short walk south of the Kincaid Chalet. The range serves as the focal point for biathlon races at the park. Participation requires rifle safety certification, which includes instruction on safe rifle handling practices, care and use of a biathlon rifle and biathlon technique. The committee makes .22 caliber biathlon rifles available for use during range openings and races. Membership in the United States Biathlon Association is required to shoot at the Kincaid Park Biathlon Range.
If you have any questions or comments regarding the sport of biathlon in Kincaid Park, contact the Biathlon Committee Chair Tom Grenier at tomgrenier@alaska.net.
