ABOUT US - Frequently Asked Questions

We will continue to update this page with so much knowledge,
it will make your head spin.

What does the office staff do?
Seventy per cent of the time is spent on administrative and membership tasks such as responding to emails and phone messages, entering membership data, organizing bank deposits and running credit card payments, mailing out trail pins, paying bills, responding to Board requests and projects, taking walk-in requests and questions, and keeping the office open and running smoothly. Work on the ski trains takes up another 14% of the time, with newsletter mailings, marketing, racing support and trails support taking up the rest. With the addition of Junior Nordic to the office, the office sees an increase in activity.
Why can’t the office be staffed by volunteers?
The staff uses volunteer help whenever possible. There is an incredible crew of women who label the newsletters every month, and every year we try to have as many volunteers as possible helping with data entry and trail pin mailings during the day. Because the office is not open during the evening and late afternoon, volunteering is usually limited to those who can come in during the day, unless there is a specific project planned for evenings.
Who works in the office?
Presently the office is staffed by three part-time employees who keep the office open four days a week, five hours per day. Each employee’s schedule is 10-20 hours per week.
How do my membership and trail donation dollars get spent?

Trails money goes toward payroll (as many as 6 groomers in winter), fuel ($24,000), insurance ($15,800), pisten bully maintenance ($7,400), other equipment maintenance ($15,600), shop expenses ($8,800). Office expenses include payroll (3 part-time), insurance ($6,500), credit card fees ($4,600), phones, internet, rent ($10,000), office supplies and postage ($3,700).
