Alaska’s Amy Glen Grabs Second Gold

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Mar. 14, 2008 – Team Alaska’s Amy Glen raced her heart out today, capturing a commanding 9.7-second lead over Sophie Caldwell from the New England team to win the gold during the FJ1 10-km classic race at the 2008 Junior Olympic Cross Country Ski Championships in Anchorage, Alaska.

“It was really awesome,” says 16-year-old Glen. “I saw the opportunity and I just put it in another gear.”

This is Glen’s second gold medal at the 2008 Junior Olympics. She also took home gold for the classic sprint.

Overall, Alaska had six finishers in the FJ1 top 20, followed by team New England with seven top 20 finishes, putting both teams in a tight race for the Alaska Cup.

The 2008 USSA Junior Olympic Cross Country Ski Championships continue through March 15, 2008.
