|2014 National Masters - February 27 - March 2, 2014
Curtains of shimmering light from the Aurora Borealis, views of Denali, close encounters with moose, having the Chugach mountains surround you and the sparkling waters of Cook Inlet, this is what you will find during your trip to Anchorage to race in the National Masters Championships hosted by the Nordic Ski Association of Anchorage, Thursday, February 27th through Sunday, March 2nd. Anchorage is the largest community in North America north of the 60th parallel with a population of 290,000+ and a hip metropolitan downtown area, but our crown jewel is Kincaid Park, a 1,516.78-acre world class cross-country ski area boasting 60 kilometers of trails, where most of the Master’s events will be held next year.
The races will kick off the evening of Thursday, February 27 with the 10 km (all categories) individual classic. The following evening, Friday, February 28, is the 3x3x1 km sprint relay. Both Thursday and Friday are featuring evening races to allow extra travel time for lower 48 skiers, as well as to involve as many local skiers as possible. Start formats for Thursday and Friday races will be a series of wave starts at 2:00 minute intervals as grouped by age/gender classes. Check out the Schedule
The Tour of Anchorage is on Sunday, March 2, 2014 and will serve as the National Masters 2014 distance freestyle championship race.
For those of you visiting from out of town, there will be plenty of fun activities taking place during the week and weekend, including the Iditarod Ceremonial start in downtown Anchorage and Fur Rendezvous.
