Past Events Hosted by NSAA

The following chart shows the national and international events that the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage has hosted during the last 20 years. The dollar amount for each event is based on an estimate of $140 (estimate from ACVB) per person per day. It is estimated that lodging is one half of that cost. The total of $5,512,780 would be the approximate total dollars brought into the community by these events. Lodging costs would be approximately $2,756,390. Since 1979 there has been an 8% hotel bed tax in Anchorage. One half of that tax goes to the city, while the other half goes to ACVB. The city has received approximately $110,000 in bed tax from these events. (This information was collected and compiled by Jim and Sally Burkholder - February 2004)
