NSAA Adult Ski Lessons 

Looking to learn something new? It’s never too late to try Nordic Skiing! Big goals this winter? NSAA Adult Lessons are open to all adults, regardless of age! This is a great opportunity to guarantee that those New Year’s resolutions will last. Join Coach Carl for a six week lesson series that will go through the basics of cross-country skiing to get you out and enjoying the snow this winter. This lesson series is geared for beginners.

Cost Per Session: $200

Registration begins October 1, 2021

COVID Precautions:

  • Face coverings are mandatory for all coaches and participants while not actively skiing.
  • Participants must stay 6ft apart.
  • Any shared items (kick wax) will be sanitized between users according to CDC Guidelines.
  • Participants must review the Health Status Agreement questions prior to coming to each lesson.
  • Participants must follow State of Alaska Travel mandates.

NSAA will be offering a temporary refund policy for the 2021-22 season due to COVID-19 precautions. If the program is closed due to unforeseen circumstances over the course of the session or other COVID related concerns, registration fees will be refunded to families based on a prorated schedule of practices held. If a skier(s) is required to quarantine due to a positive test or close contact, NSAA will also provide a refund for the time missed.

NSAA Membership is required for NSAA Adult Ski Lessons. ANY level of membership, from $35+, is appropriate. Your membership DIRECTLY supports the trails that you’ll be skiing on during the lessons, and helps NSAA continue to provide skiing opportunities for all Alaskans. If you are a current member who needs to renew their membership for the 2021-22 season, log into your member portal. Once you have renewed or started your membership, you can register for ski lessons through your member portal.

Meet Coach Carl

Carl is a well-known photographer, backcountry guide, outdoor educator, and coach. He has been skiing for over twenty years and has led numerous ski expeditions throughout Alaska. Carl loves teaching people the skills needed to enjoy themselves outside, from nordic skiing on our city’s amazing groomed trail system to traveling through remote wilderness areas.

 

 

 

LEARN TO CLASSIC SKI (in tracks)

This year’s lessons will be offered in 2 sessions:

Session 1: 6 lessons, 9 hours of instruction time*
Dec. 2, 2021 – Jan. 13, 2022 (Session is FULL)
Thursday’s, 6:30-8:00pm
Locations Vary based on lesson & conditions (Kincaid, Hillside, Russian Jack, APU etc.)
Registration Cost: $200

Session 2: 6 lessons, 9 hours of instruction time*
Jan. 27, 2022 – Mar. 3, 2022
Thursday’s, 6:30-8:00pm
Locations Vary based on lesson & conditions (Kincaid, Hillside, Russian Jack, APU etc.)
Registration Cost: $200

*The max width of skis for the tracks is 54mm. No fish scales please.

LEARN TO SKATE SKI

This year’s lessons will be offered in 2 sessions:
